About the Artist

I am a Tasmanian-born ceramic artist, university graduate marine biologist, and long-time horse enthusiast. I began working with clay in my early teenage years when I came across my father’s old pottery wheel, hiding almost forgotten in the back of a shed. I am self-taught, with my early pottery lessons consisting of old video cassettes (VHS) borrowed from the City Library.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to refine my skills and learn a wider range of techniques in the presence of other skilled potters and master potters.

I settled in Port Stephens in late 2012 and set up my pottery studio in Medowie in late 2018. My philosophy is ‘if it can be imagined, it can be created’

Hand Building

Get your hands dirty with a fun and interactive hand building class today. Perfect for begginers, hand building classes are extremely popular, and require minimal equipment so skills learned in class can be continued and applied at home. Class sizes are kept small in order to ensure each participant gets enough attention from the instructor. Hand building classes are also a great way to mingle and meet other local artists in the Port Stephens community

Wheel Throwing

Wheel Throwing is an art that has been around for centuries. It is very hands on, and can be a calming and relaxing experience. It takes years to fully master, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give Wheel Throwing a try. Here, we consider each creation a unique artistic expression given physical shape by the potter’s hands. Call us today to find out more. Spaces are limited, so it’s best to act fast!

Clay Sculpting

Whether you are a beginner or already have a basic understanding of pottery, if you are after something a bit different, try your hand at this carving or sculpting class. Clay carving is a great way to add a bit of uniqueness to your work. Classes are kept small and students are encouraged to express their individual artistic style.

We offer a number of class options, including a pottery course designed for children.

Studio Space

Studio space hire is perfect for potters who don’t have access to their own wheel, or who may simply wish to ply their craft with other like minded artists. Our studio is set up to foster a community spirit, and offers a number of Venco pottery wheels, a variety of wheel throwing and hand building equipment, a wedging table, slab roller, kilns, and many different glazes.

If you are interested in pottery classes, studio space hire, or simply want to check out our work, the team here at White Horse Pottery Studio would love to hear from you!
